Madonna to Play Super Bowl Halftime Show.

In American news, pop icon Madonna has been scheduled to headline this year’s Super Bowl half-time show for the Super Bowl XLVI. This year’s game will be on February 5th of next year at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana. The news was formally announced a few days ago during Sunday’s game. 

 

The issued press release also detailed that the performance will be created by Madonna’s longtime creative director, Jamie King (also the creative director for Cirque du Soleil, so I am sure this will be visually amazing).

It is assumed that Madonna will showcase material from her next album, which is still untitled. It is currently set for an early 2012 release date. Check out a demo version of the lead single from the album below, titled “Give Me All Your Love”.

Consider this a rescheduling, since Madonna was supposed to perform at Super Bowl XXXIV back in 2000. Unfortunately, she had to pull out almost immediately after it was announced due to conflicts with her recording schedule.

This will probably be more welcomed than last year’s Super Bowl performance that was fraught with controversy. Many were opposed to the Black Eyed Peas performing, thinking them not big enough when acts like U2 had performed in the past. No one can say the same about Madonna though! Such a megastar will surely put on a show to remember.
